We are rolling out of that “new year, new me” time of year. Where we fall back into our normal and out of the short-term resolution phase.

I am not the fittest person. In fact, I am often led by my taste buds and cravings. But I try to find balance in it all.  And for the last year, I have been trying to eat better and working in the gym, and exercising into my regular daily routines.

What is fat flush soup?

Fat Flush Soup is a type of soup that is popular as a weight-loss recipe.

The recipe can include a variety of vegetables, such as cabbage, onions, carrots, and celery, along with chicken or vegetable broth, and spices like garlic and ginger. Some variations, like this one, may also include additional ingredients like tomatoes, peppers, or beans.

The idea behind fat flush soup is that it is low in calories, high in fiber, and helps to flush out toxins from the body, thus promoting weight loss. It is often used as a short-term diet plan to jumpstart weight loss or to break through a weight loss plateau.

Yet, it is important to note that relying on a single food or meal to promote weight loss is not a sustainable or healthy long-term solution, and it is important to maintain a balanced and varied diet for your overall health and well-being.

This fat flush soup recipe allows me to have some of that balance I crave.

Is This Fat Flushing Soup Recipe A Detox?

vegetable broth for fat flush soup recipe

Fat flush soup is often promoted as a detox soup because it contains a variety of vegetables and spices that are believed to support the body's natural detoxification processes.

For example, the high fiber content in the soup may help to support digestion and elimination of waste products, while the spices like garlic and ginger may have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can help to protect against damage from toxins.

We have done the Fat Flush Soup as a way to detox from bad eating at the top of the year, and whenever we just feel our body in need of a couple of days infused with veggies and good stuff.

It definitely helps to clear you out if you are in need.
TMI? Okay sorry, not really sorry… veggies do what they are supposed to do… *shrugs*

The liver and kidneys are the body's natural detoxification organs, and they are able to effectively eliminate toxins from the body on their own.

Eating a balanced and varied diet that includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein can support the body's natural detoxification processes, but there is no need to rely on specific “detox” foods or diets.

So while fat flush soup can be a healthy addition to a balanced diet, I have to say it should not be relied on as a sole method of detoxification or weight loss. It's important to focus on long-term healthy habits rather than quick-fix solutions.

You can make this soup in a crockpot, instant pot, or over the stove. Either way, the most effort is put forth in cutting up your veggies.

Making Fat Flush Soup In The Crockpot

Start by dicing your carrots, sweet potatoes, onions, and celery.

Add broth, diced veggies (minus spinach), beans, and spices in the crockpot and turn on low heat.

After 6 hours or so, or when carrots and sweet potatoes have become soft, add in spinach until wilted. Roughly another 30 minutes or so.

Turn crockpot off and serve.

Making Fat Flush Soup On The Stove

It's pretty much the same as in the crockpot with a few modifications. You still start with dicing your veggies.

And in a large stock pot you want to add your broth, diced veggies (minus spinach), beans, and spices and turn on medium-high heat on the stovetop.

After 1-1.5 hours or so, or when carrots and sweet potatoes have become tender, add in spinach and cook until wilted. Roughly another 10 minutes or so.

Turn the heat off, let it cool a bit and serve.

Making the soup in the instant pot

The Instant Pot is a great appliance for making soups because it can cook the ingredients quickly and thoroughly while retaining their flavor and nutrients. If you have not gotten into the Instant Pot, I wrote a full detailed guide about what makes it so great.

To cook in the instant pot, add all the ingredients to the Instant Pot and stir everything to combine.

Close the Instant Pot lid and set the valve to the “Sealing” position and select the “Soup” setting and set the timer for 15 minutes on high pressure.

Once the cooking time is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10-15 minutes, then use the quick-release valve to release any remaining pressure.

Open the Instant Pot lid and stir the soup. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.

No matter which way you choose to make it, it is pretty simple. pretty tasty. And plenty healthy.

Enjoy my friends!
