When we first moved, I had a whole house clean slate. The previous owners had painted the whole house in a neutral cream flat paint.
While on one hand “Awesome, no primer needed”. On the other hand, “Hurry up and get some paint on these walls, like NOW!”
I thought I wanted a nice loyal dark blue.
Until it was on my walls.
Now two years later I am ready to make the change.
I decided that this time it would be best to go buy some of those cute little paint samples sold at home depot and paint some swatches on the wall. Then I would have time to stare at them, fall in love, and then be swept off my feet and onto a ladder getting it on the wall.
That sounded something like lines out of a cheesy love novel. But really, it’s just about paint. And I love paint. So it is actually it's own kinda romance.
But anyhoo. While grabbing those paint samples, I stumbled across these SureSwatch peel and stick paint samples.

With SureSwatch, instead of having tacky paint swatches on your wall, you stick the samples to the wall and remove them when you are ready.

I found these right at the paint counter of Home Depot. It happened totally by happenstance too! In the middle of dreading the idea of putting the colors on the actual wall, I looked down and there they were. BAM! Just like that…
Luckily I found them too. Because after I used them, I decided I didn't really want to change the color of the wall after all.
How To Use Sure Swatch Peel and Stick Paint Samples
Place the SureSwatch sample on a flat surface with the unprinted side up.
Paint the unprinted side of the film using two coats. This will ensure proper coverage.
Allow for normal drying time. Then, when it is dry to the touch it is safe to handle.
Cut off the Primer Decider Scale. Peel the backing off and stick it to the adhesive side and set it aside for a moment.
Peel backing of film off sample piece to reveal adhesive side and stick on the wall you intend to paint.
Primer Decider Scale
The Scale is used to determine if a primer is needed. If primer is actually needed, the primer decider scale will help you to find the right shade of primer.
After placing the primer decider scale under the paint, if it does not show through, no primer is needed.
If the scale shows through, then you can use the squares to determine which shade is preferred. That way, when you go to the paint counter, you can advise the paint technician when you purchase your primer.
How To Use Sure Swatch Peel and Stick Paint Samples
Peel and stick paints samples that enable you to choose a new paint color without making a mess of your current walls.
Materials
- Paint or paint sample
- Applicator brush or sponge
- Sure Swatch paint sample pack
Instructions
- Place the SureSwatch on a flat surface with the unprinted side up.
- Paint the unprinted side of the film using two coats.
